LASIK eye surgery is a laser surgery used to correct your vision. To be deemed a suitable candidate for this type of surgery, however, you will first have to come into Longwood Eye & LASIK Center for a consultation. During your appointment, you will be evaluated and examined. This article will discuss how you can prepare for your consultation and what you can expect. Read on to learn more.
Wear Glasses
If you are a religious contact wearer, we recommend that you leave them at home and come into our office wearing your glasses. Because we will be conducting an eye exam, it will be easier for you to remove glasses than it will be to remove contacts. If you do want to wear your contacts, make sure that you bring the case with you so that you can properly store them during the examination.
Examination Without Dilation
Depending on the type of eye exam you have to have, you may or may not have to have your eyes dilated. During your consultation appointment, your eyes will be examined without dilation— which means that you will be able to drive yourself home afterward. During your eye examination, a brief vision test will be conducted, and we will take a closer look at the health of your eye to see if you are a good candidate for LASIK.
Bring Your Calendar
If you are approved for LASIK, we will have to schedule a variety of different appointments for you. To help make the scheduling process easier, we encourage all of our patients to bring their calendars with them.
Come With Questions
Another thing we encourage our patients to do comes to their consultation prepared with a list of questions regarding LASIK. Remember that there is no such thing as a dumb question and that we are here to answer all of them.
