6 reasons why you should get Botox treatment

Botox is one of the world’s most well-known brand names. But do you know why? Botox is the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure or “wrinkle eraser” around. Read on for six reasons why you should be getting Botox injections.

Botox is a safe wrinkle treatment. Botox is an FDA-approved treatment for the reduction of facial wrinkles on the upper third of the face. The injectable neurotoxin consists of a small amount of botulinum toxin type A, temporarily blocking chemical signals from the nerves that cause muscles to contract.

Botox helps soften wrinkles from repeated facial expressions. Expressions such as smiling, frowning or laughing can cause lines and wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes to develop over time. Botox is ideal for treating dynamic wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyebrows and the crow’s feet on the outside of each eye area.

Botox isn’t painful. You may feel a slight pinch with each injection, but the needle is so tiny that most patients don’t need the optional topical numbing agent.

It’s a “lunchtime procedure.” One of the reasons why Botox is so popular is the convenience.  Botox treatment session only takes 15-20 minutes with no downtime. You can return to work and regular activities. It will take 3-7 days for the full effect of treatment.

Results last 4-6 months. After that time, the body absorbs the now-inert botulinum toxin and the muscle begins to contract again. To maintain results, you’ll need regular treatment sessions.

Well-established wrinkles can be reduced over time when the facial muscles are continually relaxed.

Botox can be combined with dermal fillers to maximize youthful results. There are two types of wrinkles on the skin – static wrinkles and dynamic wrinkles. Static wrinkles are present at all times and are best treated with dermal fillers. Botox has no effect on these wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles form when the muscle beneath the skin contracts. Dynamic wrinkles can become static wrinkles over time, which is why it’s important to treat them with Botox. Treating static wrinkles with dermal fillers and dynamic wrinkles with Botox will help you address the different types of wrinkles on the face simultaneously for the best results.
